Program Assistant

 

Founded in 2002, SCI’s mission is to strengthen communities by connecting diverse individuals and organizations through civic engagement initiatives.  We envision a nation where individuals are strongly connected to their neighbors and play an active role in shaping the destiny of their communities. This increase in ‘social capital’ will result in communities that are safer, healthier and more vital.

SCI has a strong AmeriCorps program, with 20 full-time members placed across several Massachusetts communities. We are seeking a part-time Program Assistant to execute the following to support this program and other SCI activities:      


Responsibilities

  • Entering AmeriCorps timesheet information into a database, and prepare reports on the totals hours accumulated by each AmeriCorps member.
  • Processing AmeriCorps expense reports, reimbursements, and occasional other light bookkeeping.
  • Securing training locations and supporting logistics (food/internet/break-out space) and assisting in preparations for trainings.
  • Coordinating AmeriCorps recruitment process including: outreach to colleges and potential members, responding to inquiries and applications, scheduling interviews and organizing and maintaining compliance of files for AmeriCorps member prospects.
  • Assist in interviews and file preparation.
  • Working with the Program Manager to ensure that all AmeriCorps member files are complete.
  • Working with the program manager to use eGrants to accomplish various AmeriCorps recruitment and program goals.
  • Compiling data from surveys and reports.
  • Scheduling evaluations and check-ins for members and host-site supervisors.
  • Assist other SCI staff with office tasks as needed.
  • Previous experience with AmeriCorps service or programs a plus.

Requirements:

  • Strong detail orientation, well-organized, good communication skills (especially phone, writing emails).
  • Strong computer skills including the ability to various websites to upload SCI position information download information about possible candidates.
  • The ability to quickly learn how to use new programs and websites to accomplish tasks efficiently.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage several different tasks and projects.
  • Part time hourly pay rate ($15/hr).
  • Availability to work 12 to 15 hours per week, and to be in the SCI’s office in Woburn, MA at least 3 days per week during business hours.
