The Updated COVID Vaccine is available for 6 months and up!

Published by Nicole Porter on

Did you know that updated COVID-19 vaccines are now available for people ages 6 months and older?

On December 9, 2022, updated (bivalent) boosters became available for the youngest age group of children (ages 6 months to 4 years). This means that everyone who is at least 6 months old and has completed a primary COVID vaccine series can now get an updated COVID vaccine.

Because the virus that causes COVID-19 has changed over time, updated boosters (the”bivalent vaccine”) offer the best protection against both the original virus that causes COVID-19 and newer variants.

An updated booster helps your immune system to react quickly if the virus enters your body (infects you) so that your immune system will quickly recognize the virus and will work to keep it from doing real harm.  A booster also reduces the likelihood that you’ll be able to spread COVID-19.

Your healthcare provider or vaccine administrator can let you know which updated booster is right for your young child and when they should receive it. Help keep your whole family healthy by making sure everyone is up-to-date on their COVID-19 vaccines. Check out the list of resources at the bottom of this email to find out where you and your family can get vaccinated!
