Talking about COVID Vaccine Side Effects – Click Me!

Published by David Crowley on

Today’s tip is about talking to people about the “side effects” of the COVID vaccines. The first step is to stop saying “side effects” and instead say “expected effects”. We know that many people will experience fever, soreness, and fatigue after getting vaccinated, and that is ok and expected! If someone feels like this after getting vaccinated, they can take ibuprofen and acetaminophen to reduce fever and manage any discomfort.

Additionally, in the extremely rare event that ANY vaccine causes long term side effects, they almost always happen within the first two months. This was seen with the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, which was paused shortly after it rolled out, so officials could evaluate its effectiveness again. They found that extreme reactions from the vaccine were exceedingly rare, so they allowed the vaccine to be used again.
