Boost Your Summer: Get Your COVID Booster for a Safe and Fun Season!

Published by Nicole Porter on

As summer approaches and we look forward to more get-togethers and memorable moments with family and friends, your health and safety remain our top priority at VEAP. With that in mind, we wanted to send a friendly reminder about the importance of making sure you are up-to-date on your COVID-19 booster shot before your summer fun begins. If you got your last COVID vaccine before September 2022, then it’s time for an update!

Why Is It Important To Get an Updated COVID-19 Vaccine?

  • The virus that causes COVID-19 is constantly evolving, which leads to the emergence of new variants. By getting an updated booster, you significantly enhance your protection against these newer versions of the virus that have developed over time.
  • Your immunity naturally goes down over time. The updated booster allows your immune system to quickly respond if you come into contact with the COVID-19 virus, effectively preventing it from causing significant harm.
  • It significantly lowers the risk of death from a COVID-19 infection. A recent CDC study found that individuals who had received the primary COVID-19 vaccine series and also received the new updated booster were 14 times less likely to die than those who hadn’t received any of the COVID-19 vaccines and three times less likely to die than those who had received the primary COVID-19 vaccine series but not the updated booster.

The updated COVID-19 vaccine, also known as the bivalent booster, is available for individuals aged 6 months and older. If the last time you received a COVID vaccination was before September 2022, then it’s time for an update! Jump into summer fun with the confidence that you and your loved ones have the best possible protection against COVID-19!
