Funding & Mentorship Opportunity for Youth

Call for Applications and Volunteers

The Lynn Lady Leaders from the Boys and Girls of Lynn received $1,700 in grant funding and a $300 Stop & Compare gift certificate from the 2025 Youth Grant Pitch Contest. The team’s award funds their youth-organized wellness workshops and access to food and hygiene supplies.

SCI Social Capital Inc. is actively seeking 15 youth teams with students in grades 9-12 from Greater Boston to apply for the 2026 SCI Youth Grant Pitch Contest, a program that empowers young leaders to develop, pitch, and implement community projects to address pressing issues affecting their peers and community members.

Youth groups in schools, clubs, and after-school programs from Greater Boston are invited to apply. Take 30 minutes today to apply as a youth team at bit.ly/2026-YGPC-Youth. Priority applications are due November 10, 2025. Additional youth team openings will be filled on a rolling basis by December 8, 2025.

If selected for the 2026 SCI Youth Grant Pitch Contest, youth teams will have the opportunity to receive up to $2,000 in grant funding to implement their community project idea. Each youth team will receive guidance and support from two volunteer Pitch Coaches. Through a series of 7 weekly, 1-hour coaching sessions and a dress rehearsal from February through April 2026, 30 Pitch Coaches will mentor youth teams in developing and refining their pitch, slide deck, and budget proposal. To volunteer as a Pitch Coach, please apply at bit.ly/SCI-volunteer. Volunteer matching begins in December 2025.

Youth projects can address a range of pressing community needs that fall under one of three social impact tracks: Arts & Culture, Bridge-building, and Mental Health. Arts & Culture projects have an explicit or primary focus on engagement through art or culture. Bridge-building projects bring together youth from different communities or different identity groups through cultural exchange and social engagement. Mental Health projects have an explicit or primary focus on supporting youth or community mental health.

The program will culminate in the 2026 Pitch Event, an in-person event on April 11, 2026, where a panel of judges will listen to the pitches and choose which teams will be awarded the grant funds for project implementation. Teams awarded funding will complete their respective projects by the end of 2026.

“The Youth Grant Pitch Contest has opened up so many doors for me,” stated Divine Egbuta, a youth leader in the 2024 and 2025 Youth Grant Pitch Contest team called Lynn Lady Leaders, from the Boys & Girls Club of Lynn. “I have seen so much growth in myself and my team as we implement our program.”

The Gathering from Boston Public Schools Academic Mentoring received $2,000 from the 2025 Youth Grant Pitch Contest. The grant award supported The Gathering’s Back to School Mentoring Summit, which occurred on August 14, 2025, connecting over 100 students and families with 20 mentoring organizations.
