[Boston, MA] – Social Capital Inc. (SCI) will host its 2026 Youth Grant Pitch Contest on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Roxbury Community College, showcasing the innovative ideas of over 100 local high school students from 10 communities across Greater Boston. At the event, 14 youth teams will present original social impact projects to a live panel of judges, competing for up to $2,000 each in grant funding from a total pool of $20,000.

SCI’s Youth Grant Pitch Contest is designed to empower young people by providing them with the funding, mentorship, and skills needed to address pressing issues in their communities. Participating youth teams develop their social impact project ideas through in-depth coaching from a pair of local professionals over 8 weeks, along with support from SCI through project completion. Youth participants work on tangible skills in public speaking, project management, and team collaboration while building regional network connections with peers and adults.

The program’s Pitch Event will be held at Roxbury Community College on Saturday, April 11th, 2026 from 12pm-3pm. The event is open to the public on a limited basis and media are welcome to attend. Sponsorship opportunities are also available for the Pitch Event on a limited basis. For all inquiries contact Philip Gordon, SCI Managing Director.

Returning in 2026 for a third time is the Lynn Lady Leaders from the Boys & Girls Club of Lynn. Divine Egbuta, their youth team leader, has valued participating the previous two years: “The Youth Grant Pitch Contest has opened up so many doors for me. I have seen so much growth in myself and my team as we implement our program. I have learned how to budget, gain valuable feedback through surveys, how to put together a pitch, and how to work with a team full of leaders. It feels great having mentors who believe in me and give me these opportunities.”

Since launching in 2021, SCI’s Youth Grant Pitch Contest has enabled 39 youth-led projects through $49,000 in grants that have benefited over 4,000 community members across 14 Greater Boston communities. The 2026 projects are focused on three social impact areas: Arts & Culture, Bridge-Building, and Mental Health.

The 2026 SCI Youth Grant Pitch Contest is made possible by the generous support of Boston Bridges Initiative, Winning Home, Inc., State Street Foundation, The Brooks & Joan Fortune Family Foundation, M&T Bank, The Boston Foundation, Kick It For A Cause, Boston Children’s Hospital, and a Massachusetts state budget line item (thanks to the advocacy of State Senator Cindy Friedman). Major support for SCI’s youth programs is provided by Cummings Properties.
