2025 SCI Youth Grant Pitch Contest | Meet the Teams: Boyz II Men Team Goal: “To create a youth-led leadership summit where the community would participate in workshops and activities focused around Mental and Physical Health, Financial Empowerment and Social Justice.”

The Boys II Men team plans to seeks to improve youth leadership skills through a summit focused on mental health, physical health, financial empowerment, and social justice. Their goal is to create an interactive platform for youth from diverse backgrounds to build relationships through networking.

This is the 3rd year the Moses Youth Center is participating in the SCI Youth Grant Pitch Contest. Last year, they had a youth team called the Neighborhood Service Project where they were awarded $1,700 to help combat housing insecurity. In 2023, the Neighborhood Service Project from the Moses Youth Center received $1,600 for a community party called the Summer Kickoff Mental Health Day.

Their coach Nick Fratto is a dynamic professional with a proven track record of driving impactful business outcomes. At 25 years old, he brings a fresh perspective and innovative approach to complex business challenges. Currently focused on strategic initiatives with RiseNow, Nick excels at delivering tailored solutions for clients, particularly in spend management and procurement transformation.

Nick participated in the 2024 SCI Youth Grant Pitch Contest also as a coach for the Moses Youth Center. “I had an amazing experience last year and it was a great learning experience for myself on how to become a better coach,” he shared.

Another coach for the team is Elise Brady, a professional 30+ years in for-profit and non-profit businesses. Elise is currently working as the Vice President of Enterprise Systems at Rhone. She has also worked within financial services in project management, Montessori School ownership and head of school, and software support for multiple businesses.

Elise shared that she is excited to connect with the youth team. “[I] would love to share what I have learned over the years with young adults.”

The goal of SCI’s Pitch Contest is to provide youth with the opportunity to decide how to strengthen their community while practicing valuable professional skills such as public speaking, project management, and community organizing. With the guidance and support of 2 volunteer Pitch Coaches, each youth team will develop their project ideas and be in the driver’s seat of positive change.

The Pitch program will culminate on April 5th, when SCI will host the in-person Pitch Event at La Colaborativa where each team has the chance to receive up to $2,000 in grant funding. Media are invited to attend the Pitch Event. Funded youth teams will have until January 2026 to complete their respective projects and submit a project impact report.

This program is made possible by SCI’s sponsors, individual donors, and a Massachusetts state budget line item, thanks to the advocacy of State Senator Cindy Friedman. The 2025 SCI Youth Grant Pitch Contest is sponsored by Boston Bridges Initiative; The Boston Foundation; Winning Home, Inc.; M&T Bank; Berkshire Bank; Benefact4; and Kick It for a Cause.
