"A Day On, Not A Day Off," MLK Day of Service

MLK Day of Service Logo

Martin Luther King Jr. once said that "Everybody can be great, because everybody can serve."  This January 21st is officially recognized as Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service.

As a way to honor this extraordinary leader,  on MLK Day, you can sign up to help with a community service project near you!

Some options may include:

*Joining SCI's partner, Girls Inc. of Lynn, and helping out at various non profits throughout the city. Sign up here.

*Joining the Massachusetts Service Alliance and signing up for one of their projects here.

*Looking for service projects across the U.S. here.

*Or start serving early and join President Obama for National Day of Service on January 19th!

SCI is also pleased to hear about the different service projects going on with our partners at the United Neighbors of Fall River and at NuPath Inc. in Woburn.

In Fall River, children from the local schools, churches and agencies will be going to Gifts to Give, a program that gives community members clothes, books, baby items and toys. Volunteers will help sort through donations to make gift packages for local children in need.

NuPath Inc. will be hosting a group of volunteers from UMASS Boston to help paint rooms for clients at a day hab facility in Westford.

On MLK Day, I will be joining non profits in Lynn to help with service projects there. How will you honor Dr. King?
