Blend voices of a group of incredible urban singers!
Girls Incorporated of Lynn is a nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring all girls to be strong, smart and bold through life-changing programs and experiences that help girls navigate gender, economic and social barriers. Research-based curricula, delivered by trained, mentoring professionals in a positive all-girl environment equip girls to achieve academically, lead healthy and physically active lives, manage money, navigate media messages, and discover an interest in science, technology, engineering and math. Each program is an essential piece of the Girls Inc. of Lynn experience that is structured to provide girls with a strong foundation on which they can build future successes. This holistic, compensatory and intentional programming focuses on the girls’ needs to provide them with exposure to a wide variety of experiences and options that they might not have encountered otherwise.
We are currently seeking a volunteer choral director to help bring joy and happiness through music by creating a Girls Inc. of Lynn chorus of 20 girls, ages 5-15. We know that musical training helps develop language, reasoning, intellectual curiosity and music helps to build imagination. Our girls love to sing contemporary music that speak about the potential every girl has to become strong, smart and bold. Auditions will be necessary. Our girls have lots of energy and talent just waiting to break out.
The ideal candidate must have a musical background, and experience working with youth is also a plus. The chorus will perform in the community and at the Girls Inc. annual luncheon in the spring, with the first performance in mid-February. Practice is held Friday, 3:30-4:30 with a December 1st start date. The music program can be divided into two eight-week sessions or continue throughout the year, depending on the volunteer’s availability.
