Volunteer to Plant a Community Garden

Join the Student Conservation Association for Volunteer Day!

When: Saturday, June 29th from 9AM-12PM

Where: Meet at the gardening gate at Shangri La Gardens, Almont Park, Mattapan

What: Volunteer to weed, clear pathways and plant in the SCA and Mattahunt garden plots.

Participate in a 5K Run/Walk for Marathon Bombing Survivor

Join the United Sisters of Color for a 5K Run/Walk to benefit Mery Daniel, a Mattapan resident and marathon bombing survivor.

When: Sunday, June 30th. Registration at 9AM. 5K from 10AM-1PM.

Where: Meet at the Franklin Park Golf Clubhouse (One Circuit Drive, Roxbury). 

What: Run or walk in a 2.5 mile course.

Volunteer at Circle The City

Volunteer at Circle The City, a Boston's Open Streets, Open Parks project where thousands of people will get to walk, bike, dance and play in the city streets.

When: Sunday, July 14th from 11AM-4PM

Where: Huntington Avenue. The festival will be moving between Belvidere Street and Brigham Circle on the outbound side of Huntington, connecting to the Back Bay Fens and the Southwest Corridor.

What: Volunteer to help with a variety of tasks such as: event preparation, outreach support, set up and break down, running the information booth, assisting with safe street crossings, monitoring routes, surveying etc.

Socialize with One Brick Boston

Join One Brick Boston for a monthly social event!

When: Tuesday, July 16th from 5:30-7:30PM

Where: Kinsale, 2 Center Plaza, Boston

What: Enjoy free light appetizers and drink, have some fun, and meet new friends. These social events are a great way to meet the One Brick Boston team and volunteers, as well as to learn more about the community.

Volunteer on Nelson Mandela Day

Nelson Mandela Day is an international day of service dedicated to continuing the South African leader’s legacy of working to improve the lives of others.

On July 18th, Mandela’s birthday, individuals are encouraged to donate 67 minutes of their time to a favorite charity or their local community to honor the 67 years Mandela spent fighting for the rights of others.

Help a Neighbor in Crisis

Volunteer with Neighbor Brigade, an organization dedicated to providing immediate and free assistance to neighbors experiencing sudden crises such as cancer treatment, illness, accident and other tragedies.

Volunteers are needed to help with:

  • Delivering meals
  • Providing transportation
  • Home maintenance

Join the Merrimack Valley Sandbox for Entrepreneur Coffees!

When: Every Tuesday from 8-9:30AM

Where: 175 Cabot Street, Suite 100, Lowell

What: Entrepreneur coffees are a great way to meet other entrepreneurs in the region, share your business or nonprofit idea with others, and grab a free cup of coffee or tea.

Become an SCI AmeriCorps member! Apply to join the team of SCI AmeriCorps members to build social capital in our communities through civic engagement opportunities. We are currently accepting applications for our positions that begin in September 2013! 

Our host sites are located in Boston, Dorchester, Mattapan, Woburn, Lynn, Chinatown and Fall River. SCI AmeriCorps members serve as either Volunteer Outreach Coordinators (VOC) or Youth Leadership Coordinators (YLC). Volunteer to Deliver Meals to Homebound Seniors

Woburn URGENTLY needs Meals on Wheels volunteer drivers! 

Do you have an hour to spare each week or as little as two hours per month? 

Volunteers are need to deliver mid-day meals to homebound seniors. Just this brief interaction with drivers goes a long way in improving the health and well-being of senior citizens.

Meals are provided by Minuteman Senior Services, a nonprofit organization that helps seniors and people with disabilities live in the setting of their choice by engaging community resources and supporting caregivers.
