WorldFest 2017 wows Woburn and surrounding communities

On Sunday, May 21, Woburn and surrounding communities gathered at Library Field for the annual WorldFest event. WorldFest is a multicultural festival celebrating ethnic diversity and cultural traditions from around the world. There were a variety of performances, craft vendors, cultural displays and food from countries across the globe.

WorldFest 2017 was a huge success thanks to all of the performers, vendors, organizations, volunteers and members of the community who came out to celebrate! Performers alone represented a number of regions and countries across the world, including India, Japan, Brazil, the Middle East, China and West Africa. Among food vendors, visitors were able to enjoy a variety of flavors: Zaika Indian Bistro, homemade Bulgarian grilling from Ivan Donchev, Del Sur Empanadas, Nepalese street-food and homemade Arabic among others!

Not only that, but thanks to the Winchester Multicultural Network and Woburn Welcomes, WorldFest featured a world map (allowing visitors to pin where they or their ancestors came from) and a timeline of major events in both world and Woburn immigration patterns.

WorldFest is a joint collaboration between SCI and the YMCA International Learning Center. We would also like to recognize our outreach partners, Winchester Multicultural Network, The Shepherd's House and People's United Bank.
