Woburn Community Forum to focus on race relations

"Woburn Community Forum to focus on race relations," by Social Capital Inc. (SCI), WickedLocal Woburn (February 6, 2017)

The Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, in collaboration with Woburn Social Capital Inc., will be hosting the second Community Forum on Race Relations from 7 to 9 p.m. Feb. 16 (NEW DATE due to snow) at the church, 60 Forest Park Road. This will be the second forum of its kind, following the first which was held at St. John's Baptist Church.

The purpose of this forum is to delve even deeper into the issue of race relations, through sharing experiences and identifying challenges. The forum will be in the form of small group discussions using a facilitation process that focuses on sharing and listening to each other's stories. Participants will discuss personal stories related to the topic and identify challenges faced here in Woburn. Organizers hope to end the forum with next steps that individuals can take to address race relations in the community.

Community members of all ages are welcome to attend. Though hosted by the Lutheran Church, this forum is a secular event and open to everyone. Moderators for this event will include Ron Walker from St. John's Baptist Church, David Crowley from SCI and the Rev. Yoo-Yun Cho-Chang and Charles Pfeifer from the United Methodist Church.

This forum is part of the #WoburnUnites series. This is a homegrown effort dedicated to making Woburn a welcoming place for all by creating programming that fosters community and understanding. For information: mobrien@socialcapitalinc.org.
