SCI to Develop Community Portal for Charlestown

Social Capital Inc. is working with a coalition of Charlestown residents to help develop an SCI Community Web Portal to serve the people of Charlestown. There are 99 non-profits in Charlestown, not including civic groups and our goal is to create a vital portal that will be the first stop for Charlestown to find what’s going on and how to get connected to civic life.

"Whether one is still unpacking boxes from a recent move to Charlestown or one’s family has been here for generations, with the click of a button each soon will have access to all that is going on around the Town in one reliable place,” said Rosemarie Boucher, a member of the Website Action Committee and a board member of the YMCA. "Ideally, we would like to engage all of the Charlestown nonprofits as well as all community members,” said Boucher. "We are looking for individuals and organizations to get involved in delivering content to SCI; for nonprofit representatives to be appointed and to take charge of their own organization’s content input; and for all community members to sign up for the weekly newsletter. This engagement will increase awareness of what others are doing around town and avoid unnecessary duplication."

There is a working meeting later this month, which follows up a public meeting last week. More public meetings will be scheduled soon for anyone interested in helping to get the project running. Contact MyCharlestown@gmail.com or call 781-589-6575 for more information on how to become involved.
