Connect for Healthy Communities Goal Reached!
Update: We did it! We set out on June 30 to raise the final $804 needed to meet our fiscal year-end fundriaising goal. Thanks the quick and generous response of our supporters, we raised $825 in the final day of our fiscal year and met our goal! With the final day donations added in, we raised over $20,000 in the home stretch of our fiscal year, which puts us in strong position as we start the new year. Below we've kept the original "final day" message as it provides a sense of our progress and current priorities.
We are getting very close to our Connect for Healthy Communities campaign goal. Last week we sent an email to our supporter list seeking to raise $1,438 that will be matched by SCI board members and in order to get us to our goal. Now we are down to $804 to raise before our fiscal year ends at midnight tonight (June 30). I hope you will consider helping us reach our goal by making a donation today!
Our first year focusing on "connecting for health" has led to some great new partnerships. In my email earlier this month, I described how our AmeriCorps member with the Lynn Food & Fitness Coalition has been working with corner stores to make healthy options more attractive to their peers. We also have partnered with Healthy Chelsea this year, beginning with training for their Youth Food Movement teen group on communication skills. Just recently, the Cabot Charitable Trust made a grant for SCI and Healthy Chelsea to develop a community web portal to help residents connect to activities and resources that promote active living and good health.
Finishing our fiscal year on a strong note will help us deepen partnerships that help communities connect for health. Any gift you can make to raise the final $804 we need will be greatly appreciated. $50 connects thousands of residents to resources for healthy living by covering an SCI web portal for one month; $100 provides healthy food for one of our community meetings; and $500 funds mini-grants in one community, engaging 100 youth in projects that spread healthy habits. You can click here to make an online, tax deductible donation. You can also mail donation checks to Social Capital Inc.; 165M New Boston St., Suite 233, Woburn, MA, 01801.
If you are reading this message after June 30, we would still welcome your support to help us get the new budget year off to a strong start.
