Become an SCI AmeriCorps Host Site!

SCI currently places 25 AmeriCorps members at nonprofits throughout Eastern Massachusetts (for a full list, see our Locations Page). We are always looking to expand our AmeriCorps program to new organizations throughout the state. Though we are open to new communities, priority will be given to organizations based in communities where members are already serving, as they are covered by our current grant. We will begin accepting applications for the 2015-2016 AmeriCorps term in early 2015, so stay tuned!

In line with our current organizational focus, SCI is looking to partner with nonprofit organizations whose mission/programming addresses one or more of the following areas: youth success, health and wellness, and economic development.

Our AmeriCorps members are trained by SCI as either Volunteer Outreach Coordinators (VOCs) or Youth Leadership Coordinators (YLCs) and serve at their host sites for a ten month service term. VOCs are responsible for volunteer management and community outreach and are trained in social media and website development, as some VOCs are also webmasters for our community web portals. YLCs serve primarily in youth-focused organizations and are responsible for formulating youth programming as well as the development and/or faciliation of Youth Councils at their host sites. The Youth Councils, in turn, learn leadership skills through the creation and execution of their own service projects.

Both funding (through the Massachusetts Service Alliance) and your particular organizational focus/needs will determine how many members SCI can provide and what kind of training they will receive (YLC or VOC).
