"SCI Recruiting Volunteers to Help Seniors With Leaf Raking," by Katie Russo, Woburn Patch

WOBURN - Social Capital Inc. (SCI), a nonprofit organization based in Woburn is currently seeking volunteers for their ongoing project Woburn Volunteers for Seniors. This project will match handicapped and isolated seniors with local volunteers, who will assist them in various outdoor chores such as leaf removal and snow shoveling. Volunteers will also be on call in case of sudden heavy snowfall that, without assistance, could leave many seniors homebound. SCI will collaborate with the Woburn Senior Center and Woburn Council on Aging for the project.Read more

Do you have an hour to spare each week or as little as two hours per month?

Volunteers are need to deliver mid-day meals to homebound seniors. Just this brief interaction with drivers goes a long way in improving the health and well-being of senior citizens.

Meals are provided by Minuteman Senior Services, a nonprofit organization that helps seniors and people with disabilities live in the setting of their choice by engaging community resources and supporting caregivers.
