Our 2015 Social Capital Forum will focus on the relationship between social capital and health. We are looking for committee members with a particular interest or expertise in this intersection who can offer input on potential speakers, panelists, and event logistics. Girls Inc. of Lynn is seeking a volunteer Choral Director to create a Girls Inc. of Lynn chorus of 20 girls, ages 5-15! The position would require a weekly commitment of one hour (specifics are further addressed below.

Victory Programs seek volunteers for 'Celebration of Life' Thanksgiving Dinner

Victory Programs' Boston Living Center is looking for volunteers to help with their annual Celebration of Life Thanksgiving Dinner, serving 700+ people living with HIV/AIDS and their loved ones. They need a total of 250 volunteers to help with everything from serving food to set-up, coat check, greeting guests, and clean up. If interested, find more info here.

Volunteer with the Lynn Food and Fitness Alliance

The Lynn Food and Fitness Alliance is an organization that promotes healthy eating and active living by working in the Lynn community both with store/restaurant owners as well as Lynn residents. The Lynn Food and Fitness Alliance aims to implement political, systematic, and environmental changes that can increase accessibility to healthy food and maximize opportunities for physical fitness.

Right now, the organization's Youth Health Alliance, a group of dedicated high school students from different schools in Lynn, is recruiting for two big projects.

The Healthy Corner Store Project aims to promote the healthy items that corner stores sell and in turn help Lynn residents to make educated healthy choices when shopping at these stores. The Healthy Dining Initiative works to get local restaurants to provide healthy and nutritious dining options to their customers.Read more

College Bound Dorchester Seeking Tutors

College Bound Dorchester works to ensure that all students view success in college not just as a possibility in their lives but as a baseline expectation. They are looking for volunteers who are willing to work with ESOL students as part of their English Tea Time program. The program in on-going and always looking for committed volunteers. The mission of Birthday Wishes is to provide birthday parties for homeless children. Birthday Wishes believes that children, regardless of their living situation, should celebrate their birthday joyfully, surrounded by family, friends, and others who care. Birthday Wishes is seeking volunteers to bring a party to children in a homeless shelter in the South Shore of Massachusetts. Hanover Birthday Wishes is seeking someone who can make deliveries of Birthday in a Box, which provides everything needed for a party for a homeless child, and/or on-site parties.
