Partnership

SCI partners with WROC, expands to Saugus and Winthrop

SCI has recently formed a new partnership with Winnisimmet Regional Opioid Collaborative (WROC) to adapt our web portal tool to support WROC's mission of preventing and treating opioid abuse. As WROC is a coalition of several communites (Revere, Chelsea, Saugus, Winthrop), through this partnership SCI expands to the communities of Winthrop and Saugus while building on our relationships with health organizations in Chelsea and Revere.

SCI has been supporting a similar organization, the Healthy Gloucester Coalition, by faciliating discussion and providing training to their Youth Council. We look forward to offering more comprehensive support on abuse issues through the opportunity to build and support this new web portal.

Become an SCI AmeriCorps Host Site!

SCI currently places 25 AmeriCorps members at nonprofits throughout Eastern Massachusetts (for a full list, see our Locations Page). We are always looking to expand our AmeriCorps program to new organizations throughout the state. Though we are open to new communities, priority will be given to organizations based in communities where members are already serving, as they are covered by our current grant. We will begin accepting applications for the 2015-2016 AmeriCorps term in early 2015, so stay tuned!

In line with our current organizational focus, SCI is looking to partner with nonprofit organizations whose mission/programming addresses one or more of the following areas: youth success, health and wellness, and economic development.Read more

SCI celebrates Lawrence Partnership Launch

Modelled after successful cross-sector collaborations in Salem and Lowell, the Lawrence Partnership hosted a launch party on November 21st. The 36 member board of directors, a diverse group Lawrence, MA residents, business owners, and other leaders, will work together to bring economic growth and development to the region. The Partnership's first initiative, announced at the launch, is the "Spend 10" campaign, which encourages those who live or work in Lawrence to spend $10 or more at a local business.

SCI has spent the past few months designing a web portal for the Lawrence Partnership, which was also launched on November 21st. SCI President David Crowley was in attendance at the party, as well as SCI AmeriCorps member and Lawrence native Sabrina Boggio of Groundwork Lawrence. Sabrina helped with outreach for the event and will be managing the SCI community web portal in Lawrence.Read more
