Help Landscape a Women's Transitional Home

When: Saturday, June 28

Time: 10 AM to 3 PM

Where: Valentine Transitional Home; 9 Valentine St, Roxbury, MA 02119

This event will involve revamping the exterior landscaping of the women’s transitional home. The women going through the program thoroughly enjoy spending time outside and utilizing their outdoor space, but revamping is necessary for the women to fully enjoy the space. Volunteer duties include, laying down sod, trimming the hedges out front, planting of flowers, putting up a new fence, painting a small porch. To sign up for this event, please click here

Summer Family Fun Day

When: Saturday, June 28th

Time: 9 AM – 2 PM

Where: Peabody School, 70 Rindge Ave, Cambridge MA 02140


Twice a year in the winter and summer, the Center for Families hosts Family Fun Days. These are family-friendly events that draw anywhere from 200-500 families. The event includes arts & crafts, face painting, an obstacle course, moon bounces, book give-aways, basketball, drums, and a performance. Last summer there was an African drummer and this past winter there was a puppet show.

Volunteers will be needed for a variety of tasks including, helping at the registration table, assisting staff at the arts table, face paint, supervising activities, helping with set-up, serving lunch, assisting the performer, and helping with clean up. Volunteer with One Brick Boston at Craicfest

Join One Brick Boston and volunteer at Cambridge 5K Craicfest, an Irish themed road race that benefits the East End House and Ahern Family Charitable Foundation. This event will take place on Sunday, March 16th from 7:30 AM until 10:30 AM at the Cambridgeside Galleria located at 100 Cambridgeside Place, Cambridge, MA 02141.

Volunteer Duties

  • Waterstop: Pre-pouring water in cups, handing water to runners, raking up used cups
  • Course: Directing and cheering for runners and handing out water at the finish line
  • Bag Check: Greeting the runners and organizing bags after they have been dropped off
  • ID Check: Greet runners and attach their wristbands after security has thoroughly checked the runners

Those that volunteer will receive an event shirt and free admission to the post party with Slumbrew, Notch, Nightshift, and Downeast Cider. All food and drinks will be complimentary for party goers. More Than Words Book Sorting Event

More Than Words is a nonprofit social enterprise that empowers youth who are in the foster care system, court involved, homeless, or out of school to take control of their lives by taking control of a business. These youth operate an online book business, and a brick-and-mortar bookstore and cafe on Moody Street in Waltham.

Volunteer Duties

  • Volunteers will have a youth-led tour of the business, and then work alongside youth in the various projects to support the daily operations such as prescreening and sorting donated books and organizing store displays.

Volunteer at Center for Families' Family Fun Day

The Center for Families is a family support program that serves families of children ages 0 to 8 in Cambridge. Twice a year the Center for Families hosts Family Fun Days. These are family friendly events that draw anywhere from 200-500 families. The winter Family Fun Day will take place on Saturday, January 25th at the Peabody School, located at 70 Rindge Ave in Cambridge. The event includes an abundance of activities including arts and crafts, face painting, an obstacle course, moon bounce, infant area, book giveaway, basketball, and much more. All families in Cambridge with children ages 0-8 are encouraged to attend!

Let's Get Ready College Application Completion Day

Come help out local high school students learn about the college process from volunteers whom have already gone through the process.


When: Saturday October 19th from 10 am until 2 pm.

Where: The Nonprofit Center, 89 South St, Boston, MA, 02111 (Will be meeting in the Community Room on the 1st Floor)

What: The volunteers will have the opportunity to work directly with the students helping them with advice on the common college application process as well as their personal statements


The event organizers state that volunteers need to dress professionally for this event.

Socialize with One Brick Boston

Join One Brick Boston for a monthly social event!

When: Tuesday, July 16th from 5:30-7:30PM

Where: Kinsale, 2 Center Plaza, Boston

What: Enjoy free light appetizers and drink, have some fun, and meet new friends. These social events are a great way to meet the One Brick Boston team and volunteers, as well as to learn more about the community.
