SCI MLK Day of Service Projects

MLK Day of Service Logo

SCI is continuing the tradition of making Martin Luther King Jr. Day a "day on" for service and reflection to honor his legacy. Please consider joining one of the projects we're involved with or find another near you!

SCI and our partners Franklin Park Coalition, Millennium Ten Initiative, and DotWell will work together to help fulfill Dr. King's vision of a beloved community with a Woodland Restoration Event. Volunteers will help remove cat briar from Franklin Park. Cat briar is an invasive vine that strangles the trees in the park. SCI is pleased to have this opportunity through the Massachusetts Service Alliance's 2014 MLK Day Grant. We are looking forward to a great day at Franklin Park... we don't have room or tools for anymore volunteers, but here's a place to find other projects in your area. Read more

Meals on Wheels Looking for Drivers

Minuteman Senior Services Logo

The Meals on Wheels program of the Minuteman Senior Services provides a hot lunch to homebound seniors. Meals are delivered 5 days a week, 52 weeks a year, excluding holidays. These meals assist the older adult who is unable to prepare at least one hot nutritious meal a day. In many cases, Meals on Wheels allows the adults to live in the privacy and comfort of their own home. In Woburn, almost 100 meals are delivered daily!

To learn more about how you can volunteer, or to apply call 781-221-7093 or send an email to volunteer@minuteman.org.  You may also visit the website at www.minutemansenior.org .

SCI Network Technology Associate Position Description

SCI's mission is to strengthen communities by connecting diverse individuals and organizations through civic engagement initiatives. SCI helps community organizations develop the skills and tools needed to engage citizens to make a difference, with a priority on promoting youth success and healthy communities.

SCI has dynamic community web portals for many communities across Massachusetts, using the open source content management system, Drupal, to provide community members with a searchable database of local services and the latest social networking tools to connect with neighbors and local organizations.

We are creating a new part-time staff position to help us respond to the growing demand for this portal tool. The position provides a great opportunity for someone passionate about using technology to make a difference to demonstrate and further develop their skills.
