Your elderly neighbor in Charlestown needs you

FriendshipWorks is looking for volunteers in Charlestown to spend an hour a week chatting, grabbing a coffee, going for walks, playing games, laughing and so much more! With one hour a week you can make the difference in the life of an isolated senior. We are flexible but ask for a commitment from our friendly visiting volunteers as elders will be relying on their new friend. No experience required. Volunteers can visit on weekends and weeknights. Can't commit to a weekly visit? Ask us about our friendly helping program where you would choose the tasks to help out with that fit your schedule.

Have questions? Please call us at (617) 482-1510 ext. 133

Was this opportunity made for you? Then take a minute to complete our volunteer application:

Coach a Soccer Team This Fall!

Soccer team

Hill House is looking for fun, passionate and child-centered soccer coaches to lead or assist one of our teams in their league this fall. Hill House is a non-profit community center with a strong athletics department and has provided quality programs for the children of Boston's families for over 50 years. With an iconic soccer location on the Esplanade and some strong coaches, the soccer program keeps growing in popularity.

Volunteers should have experience working with children and preferably in a soccer coaching environment. The aim will always be to ensure a fun, safe and instructional environment. Please indicate your preference for age groups to work with and include a short bio on your soccer background and any volunteering/working with children.

Programs will start on Tuesday September 5th and scheduled to finish on Saturday November 11th, depending on the weather.

SCI Network Technology Associate Position Description

SCI's mission is to strengthen communities by connecting diverse individuals and organizations through civic engagement initiatives. SCI helps community organizations develop the skills and tools needed to engage citizens to make a difference, with a priority on promoting youth success and healthy communities.

SCI has dynamic community web portals for many communities across Massachusetts, using the open source content management system, Drupal, to provide community members with a searchable database of local services and the latest social networking tools to connect with neighbors and local organizations.

We are creating a new part-time staff position to help us respond to the growing demand for this portal tool. The position provides a great opportunity for someone passionate about using technology to make a difference to demonstrate and further develop their skills.
